TCP Incubator Hack Days - Winter 2019 “Kill the Bull”

TCP Group, the owner and manufacturer of the world’s most iconic energy drink, “Krating Daeng” otherwise known as “Red Bull”, invites you to participate in one of the most challenging disruption projects ever!

TCP Incubator in partnership with Chulalongkorn University Faculty of Science, HUBBA Thailand and Techsauce is closing out 2019 with an exciting new challenge for students of Chulalongkorn University and TCP Group employees! TCP Incubator Hack Days – Winter 2019: “Kill the Bull” 21-23 November 2019 is a Thailand based hackathon made for innovators who are up to the challenge of accelerating disruption within the Food and Beverage industry, by showcasing solutions of how to disrupt TCP Group and their globally recognized product – Red Bull Energy Drink.

Eligibility: TCP Group Employees and currently enrolled Chulalongkorn University students

    • In order to take part in the TCP Incubator Hack Days – Winter 2019: Kill the Bull challenge, you need to apply and register Here by November 15, 2019

    • During your application process you will be required to submit an idea on how to “kill” Red Bull or otherwise disrupt TCP Group’s business. Keep in mind that you will be selected to participate in the hackathon based on your submitted idea per the following criteria (Innovativeness – 25%; Business Potential – 25%; Feasibility and Potential to Actualize Idea – 30%; Fit to TCP Group’s Business – 20%)

    • Your executive summary should describe the innovativeness of your idea/solution and how you aim to solve the challenge, alongside a short, detailed brief of what you plan to propose.

TCP Incubator – Hack Days Winter 2019 “Kill the Bull” is currently only eligible for TCP Group Employees and Chulalongkorn University students. Submission Requirements:

  1. Executive summary (including your department if you’re working or faculty if you’re still studying, experiences & skills). Detailed brief of your idea and what you plan to propose.

  2. (Optional) Pitch Deck or Video pitch of you proposing your idea.  We believe videos are the easiest way to get an idea across, so if you want to make sure that we understand what you’re trying to propose we highly recommending submitting a video pitch with your application. In addition, we will use these videos to build up the next Hack Days video clip!

  3. Attend TCP Incubator Hack Days Briefing on November 7, 2019   We strongly recommend you attend this session as you’ll be able to get additional details and have the opportunity to ask questions. This will help you refine your initial idea and you’ll still have an opportunity to edit and re-submit your idea before November 15, 2019.

  • Application Deadline: 15 November 2019, 11:59 pm (GMT+7:00).

  • Selection announcement: 18 November 2019, 11:59 pm (GMT+7:00) via email and www.tcp.com

  • Re-confirmation Deadline: 19 November 2019, 11:59 pm (GMT+7:00)

  • Number of selected individuals: 60 (30 from CU and 30 from TCP Group)

  • Selected applicants  will be contacted via email and invited to participate in the hackathon.

  • You must re-confirm your commitment to participate   and provide additional information per the contact email by 19 November 2019, 11:59 pm (GMT+7:00).

  1. How long will the hackathon last?  The hackathon will begin at 17.00 on Thursday 21 November at Chulalongkorn University and will end at approximately 19.00 Saturday 23 November.

  2. Who can apply to Hack Days – Winter 2019?  Any employee of TCP Group and current student of Chulalongkorn University.

  3. What are the pre-requisites to participate?  There are no pre-requisites to participate in TCP Incubator Hack Days.

  4. How do I apply to join the Hackathon?  Go to https://www.tcp.com/en/hackdays and click on the “Apply for Hack Days 21-23 November 2019” button. Complete the required fields and upload a pitch video (if you have one – though we strongly recommend you do). As our hackathon application is based on Google Forms, you will need a GMAIL account to access the application form. If you don’t have one already, please create a GMAIL account before applying.

  5. When will I get the confirmation whether I was selected or not? You will receive an email confirming whether or not you were selected to participate on 18 November 2019 by 11:59 pm (GMT+7:00). This will leave you with a 1 days’ notice for you to re-confirm your participation.

  6. What should I do if my name was on TCP’s Selected Participant List but I didn’t receive a confirmation email? Please check your junk mail as sometimes our email ends up in it. If you were selected but still haven’t received a confirmation email, please email us at hackathon@tcpincubator.com and we’ll confirm and re-send the email asap.

  7. How do I join a team?   During the 1st day, participants will be invited to pitch their ideas to other hackathon participants. Those who are interested in a pitched idea may join the “pitcher” to form a team. Teams must consist of 3-5 people.

  8. How will the Pitching winner be selected?  Winners will be assessed on the spot by doing 5 minutes presentations. They will be assessed by a panel of experts from TCP Group, Chulalongkorn, and Invited Business Leaders (from both Business, Investment, & Technical Backgrounds).

  9. Who would own the great ideas from Hack Days?   As TCP Incubator Hack Days – Winter 2019 “Kill the Bull” is an open innovation event, ideas originating from the event belongs to everyone (TCP Incubator, the originating team and its members). Post the event, everyone is able to further develop the ideas if they choose to do so.

  10. What are the awards for the Hack Days? ? (1st Place and Winning Team) THB 50,000 and shortlisting to potentially gain a spot in TCP Incubator’s 12-week incubation program. (2nd Place) THB 20,000. (3rd Place) THB 10,000.

  11. Will there be food and drinks provided during Hack Days?   Yes, meals, beverages and snacks will be provided throughout the event.

  12. How are accommodation and transportation sorted?   Participants are expected to self-arrange their transportation & accommodation on their own. (Free parking is not available.)

  13. How can I communicate with the organizers and the team?  ? We are always available via email at hackathon@tcpincubator.com.

  14. What should I bring?  A Laptop and/or iPad for hacking. If you wish to bring additional hardware you can.

  15. Will there be cool swag?  You bet! You’ll have to wait and see what it is but it’ll definitely be something cool.
