Sponsor Joins Hands with Bangkok Metropolitan Administration to Advance ‘Sponsor Heat Combat’ Campaign

Distributing Drinks and Raising Heat Safety Awareness to Help Thais Beat the Heat — Bringing Refreshments to All Four Regions Nationwide
TCP Group, the manufacturer and distributor of “Sponsor,” the number one sports drink in Thailand, is partnering with the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) to launch the ‘Sponsor Heat Combat’ campaign. The initiative encourages Thais to stay healthy and mindful of heat-related risks as summer approaches while bringing refreshments to communities nationwide through the Sponsor Heat Combat caravan, which will travel across all four regions from now through May 2025.
Mr. Varawut Pongchinpak, Chief Commercial Officer - Thailand of TCP Group, said, “As the leading sports drink in Thailand, Sponsor is committed to promoting better health and wellbeing for Thais by combining marketing efforts with social responsibility initiatives. Now in its second year, our ‘Sponsor Heat Combat’ campaign continues to deliver both hydration and education, raising awareness of how to care for one’s health during the hot season. In particular, we emphasize the crucial role electrolytes play in helping the body restore balance under extreme heat — whether people are exercising outdoors, shopping, or waiting for public transportation. Our partnership with the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration is a significant milestone, enabling us to reach even more people and build greater public understanding. We are expanding this initiative nationwide, helping Thais stay prepared and confident in tackling rising temperatures and continuing their daily activities — with Sponsor as their trusted companion for health and refreshment.”
Mr. Pornprom Vikitsreth, Adviser to Governor of Bangkok and the first Chief Sustainability Officer of Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), added, “The BMA is dedicated to making Bangkok a livable city for all. We work closely with all sectors to enhance the quality of life for Bangkok’s residents, ensuring they can adapt to ongoing changes and enjoy good health and wellbeing. However, Thailand’s intense heat remains a serious challenge. Since late February, the country has officially entered the summer season, with some areas seeing temperatures climb as high as 43°C1. Such extreme heat can pose significant health risks, particularly for vulnerable groups, including young children, the elderly, and outdoor workers. Data from the Department of Disease Control shows that 30 people lost their lives to heatstroke in 2024, and 37 in 2023. These figures highlight the urgent need for awareness and preventive action. The BMA is proud to support TCP Group’s ‘Sponsor Heat Combat’ campaign, which aligns with our public health strategy aimed at reducing the impacts of extreme heat through sustained education and proactive health measures.”
As part of the campaign, the Sponsor Heat Combat caravan will distribute 300,000 bottles of Sponsor sports drinks across Thailand — starting in Bangkok and expanding to all four regions. The initiative aims to help the public better manage the challenges of extreme heat while also raising awareness through three easy-to-follow self-care tips:
- Stay Hydrated — Drink at least eight glasses of clean water every day. If you sweat heavily, replenish lost minerals and maintain your body’s balance by drinking electrolyte-rich beverages.
- Limit Sun Exposure — Avoid staying outdoors for extended periods. If outdoor activities are unavoidable, take frequent breaks in shaded areas to cool down.
- Dress Appropriately — Wear light, breathable clothing and avoid tight or dark-colored outfits that absorb and retain heat.
